Yesterday, two bombs went off four blocks from my home in Boston. One never expects something like this to happen to you or those you know, but sometimes it does.
My love and support goes out to all the victims of this tragic event.

It’s no secret that I’m a comic book fan and that comics turned me onto art and lead to my career as an artist and art educator. Yesterday comic book fans lost one of the great creators who left a lasting legacy with his work during the Golden and Silver Age of comics. A touching farewell was written by his former colleague and popular comic book creator in his own right, Paul Kupperberg.
I’m very proud to announce I’ve been selected as a teaching artist for the Boston Foundation’s Culture for Change program! I’m looking forward to working with teens and young adults of Chinatown and South Boston at the Boston Asian: Youth Essential Services center to create art that speaks out against racism.
This month!
Easter eggs decorated with all-natural dyes. Modest, but festive!

Greenware, bisqueware, and glazeware, collectively. 5th Grade.
The winter term has wrapped up in public school and slowly at the art center where I teach afternoons. This week has been a perfect week for me to reflect on students’ progress by reviewing past lessons and projects since mid-January. As a whole it seems everyone’s had fun and learned quite a bit. I’m pleased with the successes had then till now.

6th Grader working intently on his comic book.

I get ‘a little’ excited talking about art.
I’m pleased to announce that after some touching up this painting will be shipped to Gallery 111 in Sausalito, California for a guest artist show in May!

Annie Leibovitz
Nature is so powerful, so strong. Capturing its essence is not easy – your work becomes a dance with light and the weather. It takes you to a place within yourself. – Annie Leibovitz, famed portrait photographer
Throughout the month of March students and I have been discussing the work of well-known female artists. It’s a theme I use often, but particularly focus on during Women’s History Month. This week into next we’ll be wrapping up the event with Annie Leibovitz, an artist who’s taken photographs of some of the most iconic faces of popular culture.
I’m on a new mission to complete at least one ten minute sketch per day. After the time limit has been reached, I have to stop and leave written comments on what needs work and what was done well. I’m hoping this will strengthen my work as an artist and make me more aware of my weaknesses. In addition to creating a tumblr page that I use to find and post references for my work, I’ve added a works-in-progress page where I plan on creating an online diary with images of my progress.
